What is ZotSun?
UCI Solar Car Project (ZotSun) is a student-run interdisciplinary team of 60 undergraduates from the University of California, Irvine with a passion for innovative engineering and sustainability. Our mission is to revolutionize zero-emission transportation. This year marks the second year of our two-year development cycle. We will be manufacturing and testing our first solar car in preparation for the 2025 Formula Sun Grand Prix. Next year, we aim to advance to the 2026 American Solar Challenge and compete in a 2000-mile cross-country race. We welcome you to be part of our dynamic team and contribute to this groundbreaking project!

The 2025 Formula Sun Grand Prix is a premier collegiate event where teams race solar-powered vehicles, pushing the limits of efficiency, aerodynamics, and sustainability over three days of intense competition. Our team is building an advanced solar car to compete in this exciting race, along with the 2026 American Solar Challenge—a 2,000-mile journey across the U.S. These competitions give us the opportunity to showcase the potential of solar technology and drive innovation in sustainable transportation.
