Call for IGNITE Volunteers

Join SWE x MAES x AIChE x BMES x NSBE x SHPE x ESC x ASME for IGNITE! 

Outreach coordinators from these ESOs are hosting an event for high school and middle school students to come to UCI to learn about STEM and going to college. 

We have a lot planned, so we need lots of amazing volunteers!

Potential Jobs:

  • Check-in
  • Handing out snacks/meals
  • Supervision
  • Walking students to lab locations
  • Stationed at hands-on activity booths
  • Parking director

Date: May 18th, 2025

Time: 9AM-5:30PM (shifts vary)

Location: Meet at McDonnell Douglas Engineering Auditorium (MDEA)

RSVP: Hands-On Semiconductor Workshops for ALL Engineering Students!

Dear Engineering Students,

Are you curious about how the chips that power our devices are made? The Irvine Hacker Fab is excited to announce a comprehensive six-part workshop series on Semiconductor Fabrication designed specifically for first, second, and third-year students from all engineering majors! NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

This event is a hybrid event, combining both theory and hands-on experience with 3 labs. Students will be able to see silicon wafers, personally experience how to dice them, and create microscale patterns, like these Pokemons. RSVP now at this link.

Rotocraft Workshop #4 – VFS at UCI

Dear Engineering Students,

The Vertical Flight Society (VFS) at UCI is excited to invite you to the fourth session of our Rotorcraft Workshop Series! These workshops aim to introduce undergraduates to the fundamentals of rotorcraft design and technology through a series of mini-lectures led by industry professionals from the local industry. 

Led by James Bechler, Flight Simulation & Handling Qualities Engineer at Supernal, this session will cover key topics including: 

  • Rotorcraft Flight Dynamics
  • Flight Control Systems
  • Handling and Flight Qualities

James is a UCI alumni who has previously held similar roles at Bell Flight, General Atomics, and Systems Technology Inc. He holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from CSU Long Beach.
